Background Info
Hazelwood East High School has a student newspaper called The Spectrum. The principal was reviewing an issue of the paper and found two articles that he did not approve of and told them to remove them for publishing. They took this to court saying he was depriving them of their first amendment right to freedom of press.
Court Ruling
The court ruled with a 5 to 3 vote that this act of the principal was constitutional. Regardless that they couldn't publish their ideas, they thought the school standards set up could give him that authority.
